Additionally, there is a perception among users that the user interface focuses more on looks than functionality. Limited Functionality: Users have mentioned several limitations in terms of functionality. They have stated that some previously working UI functionality is no longer working or has been removed. The lack of a Dark Theme and the inability to immediately jump to a script from a policy are disappointing for some users. They also feel that there should be easier ways to set up templates for policies and scripts, and that scripting and creating filters for searching are difficult. Apple device management. In a world where people want choice and devices that don't necessarily like to be managed, this product is the Cadillac and granddaddy as far as Apple MDM is concerned. While it does have its quirks (what product doesn't), Jamf's support is on key and will do what it can to help you - even if it's out of their purview.

Well suited for any organization that wants to manage apple products. It's extremely easy to integrate and has many connectors for existing enterprise infrastructure applications. Certificate management is a breeze. Not so suited for smaller businesses that only have 10-20 devices. Jamf has another product called JAMF Now that would suffice for those areas.

Jamf Pro is the primary tool my university uses for Apple device management. Jamf Pro enables us to automatically enroll devices, apply configurations that ensure they adhere to security policy, install any applications and configurations a user or department would need and much more. Jamf has tons of features and integrations. It can be integrated into most popular identity providers (Microsoft AD/Entra ID, Okta, Google, etc). Jamf regularly introduces new features to make their product better, such as Jamf Remote Assist for remotely connecting to devices without specific network dependencies. Overall Jamf gives us the ability to manage Apple devices in the best way possible and also enables us to give superb support to users with Apple devices.
  • Automatically enroll Apple devices into management.
  • Allows for macOS & iOS patching.
  • Allows for third-party patching.
  • Allows the running of custom scripts.
  • Support could be better.
  • A more automated third-party patch management solution.
I think anywhere Apple devices are managed Jamf Pro is well suited. It only wouldn't be appropriate in organizations without a significant Apple footprint.

At our company, for many years now, we are using Jamf Pro for managing our macOS devices fleet. Jamf Pro is used for everything, from the device initial set-up and enrollment, restricting software and etc, to pushing configuration profiles for specific apps/network and etc. We do utilise Self Service application (aka. own AppStore) to give our users list of approved software to be used in our company. Overall, we have a great experience using Jamf Pro, it's stable and reliable.
  • Flexibility of device management
  • Scoping policies
  • Product support
  • Managing Software Updates
  • Patch management
It's well suited for firms with large or growing fleet of devices. I can only say about macOS device management, as for mobile devices we have a different solution. But I had a chance to play around with mobile device management using Jamf on one of the trainings using Sandbox, and I can say that you can totally use it for managing iOS/iPadOS/Android devices as well.

We utilize Jamf Pro to manage a fleet of 150 Macs and around 100 iPads. We also use it to remotely deploy software and printers. It is essential in standardizing configuration and software across all the computers and devices, with different configurations for staff and students. It's also been important in deploying Jamf Connect to allow JIT account creation without having to bind to Active Directory.
  • Jamf Pro's Self Service is a great mechanism for making software available to end uses as they need it.
  • Jamf Pro is also great for creating plans called PreStage Enrollments that allow for computers to skip many of the setup screens, as well as automating account creation.
  • Jamf Pro in combination with Apple Automated Device Enrollment (formerly DEP) allows for devices to supervised and managed, this combination allows for locking, remote wipe of devices, and finding locations of devices when put into lost mode.
  • Jamf Pro has made great strides in patch management, but it's still not as smooth as it could be.
  • Jamf Pro needs a better mechanism for enforcing computer and device names, as well as setting names when devices are brought in, in an automated manner.
  • As we wait for Jamf Pro to include the Remote Desktop functionality in the management page for devices, depreciating Jamf Remote and shifting to Team Viewer was not appreciated. It feels like a long wait.
We run a technology lending program for students. Jamf Pro has been instrumental in allowing student staff to prepare the laptops in a systematic, consistent manner. The same can be said with iPads and deploying apps to the iPads is automated. Also, extra software titles are made available in Self Service (both for laptops and iPads). Additionally, putting policies in Self Service for IT student workers to deploy to sit-down machines to run as needed is quite useful as well. Less appropriate scenarios would be in cases where there are fewer than 10 to 20 machines. Looking at Jamf Now would probably be a better use of resources. Jamf Now is not as robust as Jamf Pro, but for smaller entities it would be a better fit and a better choice financially.

  • Zero Touch Enrolments
  • Application Deployment and Updates
  • macOS Updates and Upgrades
  • Zero Day Support for all new releases
  • Always aligned with Apple RoadMaps
  • Patch Management is better now but something where Jamf can improve and I see it in their roadmaps which is coming in near future.
Jamf Pro is well suited for all organisation managing Apple devices with its granular controls for deployments be it a policy to deploy an application, script, notification, etc or configurations, Jamf Pro always comes with a simplified way of doing things making sure end user experience is at top notch. Not to forgot the biggest macadmin community is with Jamf Pro in form of Jamf nation and end user self help capability in form of Jamf Self Service.

We use Jamf Pro to deploy and manage all of our Apple products. We are a 90% Apple shop so all of our End Users are on Apple products. Jamf allows users to deploy and manage the equipment with a click of the mouse.
  • Software distribution
  • Locking out computers for compliance
  • Helps with current inventory
  • Self Service and the integration with the Apple Apple store has it's issues.
  • Self Service banner does not scale.
  • A built in script editor would be nice.
If you manage Macs or iPads this is a necessary service and really is the only one that is this well built. It does not do Windows....lol

We rely on Jamf Pro to manage the complete lifecycle management of ~2500 Macs globally.
Key functions we rely on heavily are
  • Automated Device Enrollment for initial deployment of both end-user machines and Zoom Room conferencing Mac Mini's
  • Automatic and self-service software distribution both on and off-network
  • AWS integration
  • Managed Apple software update; point releases and security updates
  • Self-serve OS upgrade in-place via Self Service
  • VPP app distribution
  • FileVault disk encryption
  • Various reporting
  • Automatic printer configuration via Self Service
  • Configuration Profiles for a variety of managed preference settings
  • OS upgrade in-place via Self-Service
  • Zero day support for most new Apple features
  • Jamf [Pro]'s overall framework that allows for a wide variety of integrations and custom problem-solving solutions via policies, scripting, MDM, etc
  • While already in progress, the Configuration Profile editor is a little unwieldy
  • User dialog messaging. While Jamf [Pro] helper is very useful, a more feature-rich utility with editor functions would be extremely welcomed to interact with the user while installing software.
  • Policies: I would desperately like to see the ability to organize the order of packages and scripts within a policy without needing to use names, numbers, and 'priority'. Just let me drag items in a policy around in order.
  • Policies: scripts can only be run before or after, please let me place them in between packages
Jamf Pro is the premium swiss army knife of Mac platform management tools. In our case, we have found no need for additional tools and can generally solve all our management and support needs with the built-in functions.

We have to support a fairly large global workforce and be prepared for small and large acquisitions and divestitures at any time. With that in mind, a full-featured best in class product like Jamf Pro sets us up for continued success no matter what our existing business or future businesses demand of us.

[The] University of Utah Health is using Jamf Pro to manage iOS, tvOS, and macOS devices. It is being used across the whole organization. We are using the Healthcare Listener to integrate with our EMR to manage devices (iOS and tvOS) as patients are discharged and transferred. We are using Jamf Pro to manage iOS devices in Nutrition Care Services to display food menus on iPads to patients. We use Jamf Pro to manage macOS for ITS and Hospital staff.
  • Healthcare Listener
  • Being able to restrict Home screen layout
  • Making apps (App Store and In-house) available on devices
  • Restricting apps not needed
  • Communicating better on updates of PI
We are able to manage our mobile device fleet (macOS, iOS, tvOS) very well.

We use Jamf Pro to remotely manage and maintain devices for all users. All departments and users are enrolled through Jamf Pro and managed remotely as much as possible. We rely heavily on JAMF Pro to manage remote users by sending software patches, fixes, and updates. It is highly used to install and support new applications on the different devices utilized by our users.
  • Install updates, patches, or new applications.
  • Lock lost or stolen devices.
  • Allow users to install or update applications on their own time.
  • Change policies to allow or restrict certain preferences.
  • Have report templates for application usage.
  • Better details on user analytics.
Jamf Pro is well suited to push different applications to a specific device. It is also very helpful to have the ability to create groups of devices or users, which gives us the ability to control what gets deployed in a more granular way. It also gives us the capability to allow users to install, update, and upgrade devices and applications remotely.

Jamf Pro has been an absolute lifesaver during the pandemic. Patients in our hospital have been cut off from friends and family due to visitation restrictions, tech shortcomings, illness, etc. Using Jamf, we have been able to quickly and efficiently deploy iPads to each and every patient room, each one containing multiple ways to contact friends and family. Because all of the iPads feature our Jamf build, support and training are a breeze. Patients are constantly connected to family members as well as their care team 24/7.

Building out the profiles took minutes and getting the devices configured and deployed took less that 72 hours. That's 2500 patients with instant access to their friends and family. This would not have been possible without Jamf in our lives. Having worked with several MDMs in the past, Jamf is by far the most user-friendly. What takes days in other MDMs, Jamf can do in hours and their support community is second to none. I would highly recommend Jamf to anyone looking for a way to modernize their mobile device management!
  • Device enrollment
  • Device configuration
  • Device Support
  • Customer Service
  • Solutions
  • Needs better VPN options
  • Faster feature request responses
Jamf Pro is a must-have if you are trying to manage a fleet of Apple Devices. Configuration is simple and straightforward and it just works. It may not be as useful to your team if you have a mixed environment of Apple and Android devices. Jamf is well suited in almost any environment but has been particularly useful to us in Healthcare.

As a small community college here in northern Arizona our apple deployment has always been designed on a personal Apple ID basis that the previous apple administrator only knew about. As our Windows side of the IT department moved to a management platform the apple side of the house was left behind. The ability to finally move away from the apple deployment model based on a single personal Apple ID had arrived. The colleges apple deployment only consists of about 120 apple units but the ability to finally manage updates, deploy apps and keep all machines up to date with security [using Jamf Pro] is really helpful. The speed of deploying an apple device without even needing to touch it allows us to deliver a new machine directly to a remote professor and have them ready to go in a matter of minutes rather that having to schedule a meeting with them just to have them sign in.
  • Zero touch deployment
  • Deploy apps with little or no delay
  • Keeping up with the ever changing apple OS features
  • The Jamf community is really responsive in helping each other out
  • As a new user it is hard to remember where certain features are in the over all system set up page. A search feature would be really helpful.
  • Don't just give an enable Remote Desktop command. build in a Remote Desktop session to allow Helpdesk techs to use instead of needing to launch a 3rd party app.
[Jamf Pro] is really useful for over a certain number of units. My primary work is deploying around 120 apple products, my secondary job only has less then 10 apple products. For the price and amount of set up I don't think Jamf [Pro] is really necessary for a small deployment. However once over say 20 units then things can get time consuming to run around and do manual updates to things.

Our institution is using Jamf Pro to better manage our inventory of Mac desktops and laptops on campus and provide a better user experience and integration with our services for our faculty, staff, and students. The best thing with using Jamf Pro for us has been getting a better look at our Mac computer inventory and being able to provide different setups and configurations according to the needs of each person or department.
  • Detailed view of Mac computers and devices
  • Ability to push out apps and configurations based on department needs
  • Control how macOS updates are handled
  • Preconfigure settings to make deployments more efficient
  • Lose of support for Jamf Remote
  • Backtracking to add Smart groups to deploy configs programs
  • Being able to access other system preference items from Jamf Pro
Jamf Pro excels at providing administrators with the ability to control how computers and devices are set up. It has been great to use for prevent students and staff who leave the college from putting in their Apple ID and having to go through Apple support to reset it and get it ready for another user. It has also been great for providing Jamf Pro administrators the appropriate level of access to the cloud sever.

We are using [Jamf Pro] to manage a fleet of Macs. It allows us to easily provide a Self Service portal to perform most business tasks. Also, we use the auto-enrollment functions to streamline setup and configuration of the Macs. This allows us to save hours trying to manually load software and create user accounts. The result is money saved and good will earned.
  • Self Service
  • Auto-Enrollment
  • User provisioning
  • Configuration Profiles
  • Updates
  • MDM commands
  • Better documentation on how to use new features
  • Pricing is way too high for cloud
  • Support can be a little slow at times
[Jamf] Pro is well suited in single company environments. It has some issues when trying to implement in an MSP space as each client requires a separate JAMF Pro instance and website. There are API level tools to make the management easier, but it would be nice to see a central portal for all instances in a supported tool/website from [Jamf Pro].

  • Miss the support via Jamf Nation page, they just changed it and it is not easy to find your queries or get support.

We are a Mac school, 98% of our devices are Mac with the exception of a few. 11 years ago we have been manually doing management on our Mac and it became time consuming and always needed more man power that we don't have. Our team is small and support 3 campuses. JAMF Pro simplifies [the] workload by a lot. Management and reporting has never been eas[ier]. Onboarding new devices is down to just open a delivery box send it directly to a client with [a] note to open, proceed with setup and JAMF does everything in the background. Self Service is awesome, with lockdown and day to day requirements of software from the IT department [being] done remotely, users can serve themselves to the applications. There are other MDM softwares out there but nothing comes close to JAMF in my opinion. It was and still the best decision we have ever made.
  • Self Service
  • Reporting
  • Onboarding workflows
  • Policies and Config Profile mangement
  • May be in the future JAMF can adapt to management of Windows for our brother in the Windows Environment :)

Jamf Pro is being used together with Jamf Cloud to manage our 1-to-1 iPad environment in our lower school. It allows us to quickly make changes to the student devices, and with Covid, manage them off-campus. This increased efficiency has allowed us to keep a very slim technology department which allows us to focus on the tools for our users, rather than managing people and processes.
  • Jamf Pro offers great customer support.
  • The Jamf Pro UX is hands-down the most intuitive MDMs that I have used.
  • Jamf Pro allows for easy management with no hidden upgrades within their service required to access greater functionality. You pay for a full product and get a full product. That said, there is a premium, but you still get full management at Pro.
  • The UX offers a slick design, but no offer of customization. For my IT director, it is too dark, for me, it is too light.
  • Occasionally, you have to work your way through the support professionals to get one who knows how to fix your rare-bird, extremely unlikely to ever repeat in another user issue that you somehow managed to find.
  • Scalability in costs so that I can justify putting Mac on there as well. We have a bunch of Macs roaming campus free of an MDM, and what little I want to manage does not justify the cost.
Jamf [Pro] is great if you have a fleet of Apple Devices that you need to manage, but do not necessarily have the drive/will/time/manpower. Whatever your reason for being hesitant to get started on managing your devices, Jamf [Pro] can make it easier. We used a different MDM before for our lower school, and it took 5 weeks for two people to redeploy the devices before we could even start to clean them physically (read: sanitize because why are the kids always sticky). Now, it is just me, and I could re-deploy all of the devices in a day if I wanted to, but I actually do it over three so as to not overtax the network as it reinstalls all of the apps as I watch... It has been a great time saver, and now, in one week I (just me... I swear to you) I have all of my devices re-deployed and cleaned. I only need to wait on new enrollments to edit the numbers. I will admit Jamf [Pro] is not appropriate in an environment where you rely on that sort of time-consuming busywork to justify your hours, it is a time-saver!

The primary use case is to manage everything Apple in our environment. Everything from assigning the asset to the user, controlling licensing via App Store, custom policies and configurations. The goal is to ease the burden on our Service Desk, while also enabling the user to be more self sufficient. In the past I have used many MDM solutions and most of the time it came down to poor documentation with them compared to Jamf. We found the resources provided were more then enough to get us up and running. Plus the continued support from their staff have been awesome!
  • Jamf Nation - valuable information, tips, tricks and resources to go to when you might have issues. Often times the issue you are facing, isn't something new at all. There are always others who have run into it and can provide valuable insight to resolving. If it is something completely new, you have a plethora of other admins at your disposal who are able to quickly assist you.
  • Integrated patch management - easy to keep your software up to date on devices.
  • I think one of the big ones is automated device naming for Computers. You can do this via mobile devices in the pre-stage but not Computers. Having the ability to assign devices to a specific pre-stage enrollment group and having said group identify all systems via a specific prefix/suffix would benefit us a lot and keep a better consistency when it comes to users' machine names.
  • Improved Patch Management - This is in the works, I know, but having access to more applications or even improving the method to organizing/configuring patch management will be beneficial. Currently, it's a painful process to set it up.
  • Support for devices outside of Mac. A lot of Org's are looking to merge their fleet into a single MDM and while Jamf is the best I've used for Apple devices, having more functionality for devices outside of the Apple universe would benefit it in the eyes of other Org's.
We have found Jamf to be the critical part to everything. Having the ability to automate our workflows has been great. Also having the knowledge base of other Mac Admins at our disposal with the Jamf Nation, that's something that very few if any, MDM providers have. We currently have a zero-touch workflow, we are able to deploy the full MS Office suite, complete encryption, block activation lock, all while the device is being enrolled for the first time. The user doesn't have to reach out to IT at all during the process which definitely improves the onboarding experience.

Jamf pro is used across our entire organization. This is a best MDM tool for Apple devices. Jamf is the leader in this area and especially with Intune integration even though the integration piece has some short falls. This dosent mean as the product is bad. Comparing with similar competitors Jamf are still the Market leaders and their product is doing nice. It will be great if they can support custom requirements in a better and timely manner.
  • Deployments
  • Device Enrollments
  • Asset management
  • Intune integration
  • Cloud distribution point
  • Modern Reporting
Jamf is best suited in areas if you are going with the default capabilities of the product. If you have a requirement to used it in a custom mode there you will have some challenges. This dosent mean as the product is not capable but there is a gap in getting this into the product cycle.

Jamf Pro is being used within the entire organization to manage our corporate Apple technology. We are using it to easily deploy laptops and mobile devices, and then manage the installed software / settings, ensure compliance, and handle patch management.
  • Device Provisioning
  • Patch Management
  • Self Service
  • Mobile Device Management
  • UI / UX - Self Service
  • macOS Update Management
  • LAPS Functionality
  • Binary Patching
Jamf is great for managing a fleet of Apple devices with minimal human capital. It will take some time to set up all of the different aspects and features, but once you do, it pretty much just works. You can empower users to help themselves with Self Service, you can ensure device compliance with Configuration Profiles, lock down a compromised system with MDM commands, and keep users up to date with Patch Management. Areas where Jamf needs to improve are the user experience within Self Service and the Patch Management system needs to be more dynamic. It's not always easy to find things in Self Service and there are some current bugs that flood the user with unnecessary notifications and make it difficult to navigate. Patch Management needs to be adjusted to handle deferments / deadlines in a better way. It also needs to have a better handle on macOS system updates and updates to command line binaries. As of now, there is not a good way to use Jamf to manage these things.

We are using Jamf [Pro] managed macOS devices across the globe.

We want to manage unmanaged macOS devices using Jamf Pro Cloud Solution. Secondly we want to migrate Intune managed macOS devices to Jamf Pro. We would like to comply with our company security policies that we achieved using CIS Benchmarks.

We want to manage productivity applications as of Office 365 suite apps, VPN, Google Chrome, NoMAD and other business apps as required in real time.

Our users want to access intranet sites that we were able to achieve smoothly.

Finally we are able to manage admin rights process on macOS.

  • Self Service is the one stop solution for end user.
  • Configuration profiles are best friend to implement CIS Benchmarks, PPPC, Office apps customization, restriction and many other cool features.
  • Composer is the my best friend to create any complex package, its super easy to use.
  • Jamf inbuilt FileVault is super straight forward and doesn’t require lot of mathematics calculation to implementation.
  • Jamf Support is super helpful, professional and all the engineers are very nice to dealt with.
  • KnowledgeBase Articles should be introduced in Jamf Pro.
  • Light and Dark background feature should be included while login to Jamf Pro.
  • Jamf training curriculum need to be revisit specially Jamf 400 Expert exam.
  • Jamf should give the option to download individual device policy logs that will be really help to diagnose the issue.
  • Jamf Reset app is super duper cool but it’s only available only for iOS , likewise we should have Jamf reset app on macOS.

Very First thing is we got the way to manage all unmanaged macOS devices across the globe, which was achieved through Jamf Pro Cloud. Jamf is stable, reliable, secure and you have lot of option to customize the stuff.

We are able to integrate with centralized third party apps without any issues, this is kind of win win situation for us.

Software and Hardware Inventory is one of the key and important factor when it comes for Inventory Management. Advance Search Reporting is very powerful feature of Jamf Pro Cloud and good part is you can also utilize Jamf Pro Classic API with it

Our employees work remotely and we have deployed Mac Laptops as our work devices. We needed a device management solution, malware protection, enforcement of our policies, etc.
  • Data loss prevention tools.
  • Implementation of password management.
  • Paying for hand holding support is a JOKE.
  • Assumes a basic level of knowledge to use product.
  • Training is through self-service ONLY.
JAMF Pro is perfect for an experienced IT support team. If you do NOT have a sophisticated IT team, then it is severely lacking. And, paying an extra $3800 to be handheld is a joke. You get 8 hours of support on a defined list of services. They will only answer questions on the defined list and otherwise suggest tutorials. BUYER BEWARE for paying for this extra level of support.

Jamf Pro gives you the best tool to manage your Apple macOS fleet in your company. Unfortunately Apple is limiting the way you can manage macs compared how you manage Windows devices. Therefore you need an elegant strategy to manage your devices. Jamf Pro helps you with that. The combination of the Apple MDM commands and the Jamf binary helps you to get the most out of it.
Everything Apple does not enable with MDM commands you can take care of with scripting and custom policies. With that, your options are almost endless managing your Apple macOS devices. I'm using Jamf Pro since May 2015 and there is no other vendor who does such a great work, helping you succeed with your macOS devices.

  • Use of Internal API in scripts. With the API you can do wonderful things to automate your deployment and create a wonderful enduser experience.
  • Use of scripts in policies to automate your deployment.
  • Use of the Apple MDM commands to get everything out of it.
  • The integrated patch feature is good, but needs some tweaking. As of now, there is no option for the user to defer the installation of a patch. You can either give them the option to install the patch through self service (which needs an active part of the user to do it) or you can force the installation. However with the force of the installation, there is potential data loss, because an App which you want to patch needs to be closed for it to work. The info about that the app will be closed for patching is almost not noticeable for the user.
  • Therefore we do no use the integrated patch management technology and build our own logic to work around it.
If you want to manage macOS devices in your enterprise and want to make it as easy for the user as well as for the administrators you should use the DEP with Jamf Pro. It makes it so easy to deploy a new Apple Mac to a new user. The IT does not need to touch the device even once. You could ship it directly from the vendor and all the user needs is an internet connection and their credentials. At the end of the setup, the user has a fully managed and functional Mac to use within the enterprise.

We started out with Jamf Pro back when it was Casper Suite and on-prem only. It's been our MDM since RBS first launched our Apple technology 1:1 initiative back in 2013. Jamf Pro has allowed us to maintain a 500+ mobile and desktop device inventory with ease. Everything from device deployment through security profiles and configuration is simple to set up and powerful. Jamf Pro's cloud-based servers have phenomenal uptime and make running the system effortless. I would strongly recommend Jamf Pro to any institution with more than 10 apple devices. It is by far the best MDM in its price range.
  • Device enrollment
  • Configuration profiles
  • User deployment
  • Software deployment and updates
  • Patch management
  • Setup interface
  • Reporting functions
Jamf Pro is excellent in educational environments, hospitals, colleges, and corporations. Jamf Pro is flexible enough to adapt to almost any business model. Schools especially will appreciate the configuration profiles and the ease of setting up security lockouts that will allow student devices to maintain compliance with COPA (Child Online Protection Act).
